(1. What's Mew?)

Mew(Message interface to Emacs Window) is a message interface to
Emacs/XEmacs/Mule that integrates structured message such as MIME,
PEM, and PGP. Mew is now based on MH but will support USENET news
soon.

Currently, the following features are supported.

* Selective MIME part viewer.
* User friendly MIME composer that maps directory structure to multipart.
* PEM auto decryption and functions for encryption and sign.
* PGP auto decryption and functions for encryption and sign.
* LRU message cache engine.
* Only-SPC-key interface.
* Asynchronous inc and scan.
* Cache-based and incremental scan.
* Dynamic window configuration.
* Excellent refile folder guess.
* Alias completion and expansion.
* Easy pick then scan interface.
* Mark based functions that treat multiple messages(e.g. unshar, uumerge).
* Virtual folder.
* Mark based composer.
* PGP/MIME.

You should pronounce "Mew" as it is. Of course, it is meow of cat.

(2. Note)

Mew works with Emacs 18/19, XEmacs and Mule 1(18)/2(19). I quitted
supporting Nemacs because it's buggy. Please someone try it on Epoch. My
implementation environment is Mule 2.2.

Current Mew is a beta version. So, key binding, variable name, and
function name may change.

(3. Next step)

Please read 00install and 00usage next. See also 00changes to
understand the differences from the previous version.

(4. To receive the next distribution)

I will post a full Mew kit to USENET on gnu.emacs.sources to
distribute to all over the world.

You can find the newest version by:

	ftp://ftp.aist-nara.ac.jp/pub/elisp/Mew/mew-current.tar.gz.

Sample messages may be also available by:

	ftp://ftp.aist-nara.ac.jp/pub/elisp/Mew/samples.tar.gz.
